What lined paper is good for
Everyday writing and journaling
Standard ruled paper suits letters, diaries, and long form journaling. Pick a wider ruling if your handwriting is large, or a narrower one to fit more words per page.
School and study notes
College ruled lines give you more rows per sheet, which is handy for dense lecture notes. Add a left margin to keep dates and headings aligned.
Drafting and outlining
Loose lined sheets are easy to reorder. Draft an outline, shuffle the pages, and rewrite without wrestling a bound notebook.
Which ruling width to pick
Set the spacing to match the handwriting, not the other way round. Around 8.7 mm is wide ruled, the primary school standard and the right choice for a child or anyone whose letters run large. Around 7.1 mm is college ruled, which is what most adults write comfortably at and what fits the most words per sheet without crowding. Around 6.3 mm is narrow ruled: useful for dense lists and margin notes, uncomfortable for long stretches of writing. If you are unsure, print one sheet at 7.1 mm and one at 8.7 mm and write a paragraph on each. The right answer is obvious within two lines.

Frequently asked questions
What ruling widths can I choose?
You can set the line spacing directly in millimetres. Wide ruled is roughly 8.7 mm, college ruled is about 7.1 mm, and narrow ruled sits near 6.3 mm.
Will it print without cutting off the edges?
Yes. Print at 100 percent scale with your printer margins set to default, and the built in page margin keeps every line inside the printable area.
Is the spacing exact when printed?
Yes, at 100 percent scale with Fit to page off. The spacing is written into the PDF in millimetres, so 7.1 mm on the slider is 7.1 mm between the printed lines.
Does it work on A4 and US Letter?
Both, and the layout is redrawn rather than scaled. A4 is taller, so at the same spacing it fits a couple more lines per page than Letter does.
Is there a margin rule?
Yes. A vertical rule is drawn 12 mm inside the left margin, which is where dates, numbering and headings normally sit.
Can I use these sheets commercially?
