Those guides teach letter height and proportion, so lowercase letters sit at the right size and ascenders reach the top line. It is the standard paper for children learning to print, and it helps older writers rebuild neat, even lettering too. Set the line height, pick a page size, and download a clean PDF to print.

Picking a line height by stage, not by age
Go by control rather than by school year. A child still forming individual letters needs 18 to 20 mm between baselines, because the muscles doing the work are in the shoulder and arm rather than the fingers, and small letters are physically out of reach. Once letters are consistent and joined, step down to 12 to 14 mm, which is close to ordinary exercise book ruling. Adults rebuilding neat handwriting after years of typing usually do best starting at 14 mm rather than at their old size: the extra room makes the shape of each letter visible, which is what you are trying to correct. Step down only when a full row stays even without effort.
